We find praying the daily readings helps keep us grounded in our Catholic identity. Just think, Catholics all over the world, reading and reflecting on the same passages of scripture. Our friends in Brazil, Mexico, Canada, France, Australia... we are together in the Word of God.
The link at left will take you to the Mass readings of the day, and, if you like, you can also view a video homily, reflecting on the readings. What a great way to start your day!
Isn't the Catechism a great resource? It has been so helpful in our ministry - young people today are interested to know what the Church is saying about topics that they care about. This website has an excellent search engine.
"It was the voice of the One who called me... I knew that voice, so I responded."
Theresa Vandercar made a commitment to live for Jesus when she was thirteen. She and others began serving on a ministry team that formed into what is now known as Youth to Youth Catholic Evangelization.
Lower Your Nets is the story of Youth to Youth Catholic Evengelization as told from the inside. Theresa Vandercar was just thirteen years old when she made a commitment to Jesus Christ, and dedicated herself to serving him. In those early days of Youth to Youth, YtY members were called the "cross gang" at their local school. They quickly found that serving Jesus sometimes came at cost. They were belittled, mocked, and harased. But truly, their love for Christ impelled them. Now, more than twenty years later, many of the "cross gang" members are still active in youth evangelization, still living out the call to "lower their net."
Theresa shares about her life in a captivating, heartfelt way, and weaves in experiences of other “cross gang” members. Join with Theresa and her companions as they respond to Him calling: “Lower your nets.”
Touch both the hearts and the minds of young people by inviting them into the heart of the Church - the Eucharistic Liturgy.
Rooted in the gifts of self and prayer, Gather Faithfully will help transform young people into more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. The participant's booklet includes material for young people's reflection and formation, as well as the how-to's of liturgical ministry. The leader's guide provides clear direction for involving young people, with three training sessions each for six ministries: ministry of reader, ministry of Holy Communion, ministry of altar server, ministry of hospitality, ministry of sacristan, and ministry of cantor.
Help youth understand the meaning of Christian prayer. Introduce them to traditional and devotional prayers of the Church, as well as to contemporary styles and methods. Assist youth in developing the habit of daily prayer. This all-in-one resource for prayer forms was specially written for teens, in the PRAY IT! STUDY IT! LIVE IT!® model, like The Catholic Youth Bible® and The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth. It is the most expansive prayer book for teens. But this book does more than teach about prayer. It helps teens become prayerful people.
Take a look at the Vatican website - you'll be amazed at the volume of information. Hey, if you're Catholic, this is your heritage - take a look at where you come from!
